Bangladesh Shipbreaking Photography

Where Ships Begin Their Final Voyage

Along the coast near Chittagong, some of the world's largest ships meet their final destination. Here, thousands of workers dismantle aging vessels by hand, recovering steel and countless reusable materials that supply industries across Bangladesh and beyond. These photographs document one of the world's largest ship recycling industries, revealing both the immense scale of the work and the individuals whose labor transforms retired ships into new beginnings.
