Where Mountains, Markets, and Ancient Traditions Meet
In The Mountains Of Guatemala:
Guatemala's western highlands are a landscape of volcanoes, mountain villages, vibrant markets, and ancient traditions woven into everyday life. This gallery follows the rhythms of the region through the cobbled streets of Antigua, the shores of Lake Atitlán, and the Maya communities that surround it. From colorful buses and bustling markets to religious processions, quiet village moments, and unexpected encounters along the way, these photographs explore a place where generations of memory, culture, and daily life continue to unfold together.
The communities surrounding Lake Atitlán and Guatemala's western highlands carry traditions shaped over centuries. Textiles, ceremonies, agricultural practices, and daily rituals remain deeply connected to the landscape, creating a continuity between generations and between the visible world and the unseen stories carried through memory.
These photographs were made by walking slowly, returning often, and allowing ordinary moments to unfold naturally. Rather than seeking spectacle, the work focuses on the quiet interactions, expressions, and traditions that reveal the character of a place. Markets, processions, village streets, lakeshores, and mountain paths become settings where daily life tells its own enduring story.
