Rising above central Nepal, the Annapurna massif has shaped the lives, beliefs, and journeys of the communities that have long inhabited its valleys. For centuries, the footpaths encircling these mountains formed vital routes linking villages, cultures, and trade across the Himalaya, and they continue to carry pilgrims, herders, and travelers through one of the world's most remarkable mountain landscapes.
This documentary photography gallery follows two journeys: the trail to Annapurna Base Camp and the three-week Annapurna Circuit, where ancient pathways wind through forests, high passes, and villages that remain closely connected to the rhythms of mountain life. Alongside portraits of the Annapurna range, the photographs reveal villages, landscapes, and communities whose histories remain inseparable from the mountains that surround them.
